Day 2 brought us to Timberline Lodge and Mt Hood. Another beautiful day was in store for us. Tom decided to sit this one out and enjoy some relaxation and recovery in Hood River. Ian flew in from a sales meeting to join Brett and I around Mt Hood.

More exciting river crossings

Running away from Mt Hood
Shortly before this picture was taken, Brett's knee acted up and he couldn't continue. He was coming off of 6 months of little to no running due to living in Shanghai and also recovering from plantar fasciitis. One month out from running Three Peaks, he started to run. Not many individuals would even attempt this adventure on one month of training...so kuddos to Brett for logging 50+ miles in a day and a half on one month of training. Luckly for us, Tom had taken the day off and there was cell service, so Brett took Elk Cove trail down and met Tom. Also, lucky that Ian had joined us for Mt Hood so that he and I could finish the circumnavigation. The picture above is at Eliot Glacier and the section of the trail that is closed. We ran up the washout and after a quick call to Max King (one of the top ultra runners in the world) for clarification on where we should cross, we found the rope that helped us get down the scree slope and over to the other side.

And the end is near...
After completing Hood, we grabbed a quick sandwich to go at Timberline lodge and made the 2.5 hour drive to Cougar, WA for a few hours of sleep and prep for Mt St Helens the following day!
