New Kitchen Table

So we had been looking around for a new kitchen table for quite some time.  Things we were looking for:
Round
Mixed materials
Use of reclaimed materials
Nice but not too smooth
We were not having much luck.  Then one day on a craigslist search for reclaimed...we found a posting from Andy Whitcomb.  There were a couple of great photos of pieces he made and also a note saying that he could make custom pieces.
To make a longer story short - he built us a super cool, round table using mixed materials that were reclaimed in a round shape - exactly what we were looking for!
Here is the base constructed before the top was built.

Andy found this really cool steel that was rusted and worn but with a bit of cleaning, bending, and painting - it became the base to our new table.

Here is Oliver checking out the new piece the first night it arrived.

When are you all coming over to join us for dinner at the new spot?

Here was the original sketch...

And the finished product...

Now for a sketch of the next project for Andy...a coffee table using reclaimed bowling alley I had in the garage...
