The Ballard Locks

Over this Memorial Day weekend, we met the Leptich and Kruse family for a great day at the Ballard Locks. The kids has so much fun running around the locks, the gardens, waving to the boats, seeing the smolt salmon heading out to see, and not listening (oh...that was just Oliver not listening).

Oliver and Hayden checking out the boats that are waiting to get back into Lake Union

Hey Boys...we asked you not to stand up on the ledge like that...

Oliver and Gavin in a full sprint up the ramp to get closer to the locks

The smolt fish were fun to watch...if you see the little fish been shot like a cannon ball from a cannon - that was them shooting out into the Puget Sound side of the locks.

Oliver to us "What's this?". We answer "It's a phone booth". "What's a phone booth?". "I don't know anymore".

Oliver and Hayden running and playing in the gardens.

Zooming as fast as he can...

These two sure liked to climb up on things...first the railings, now the benches.

Avery was very sweet and had a fun time at the locks as well. Since she didn't make it into the crazy boy pictures, here she is full of smiles!

The Kona Crew

On our last morning in Kona, we went to The Coffee Shack for one last yummy breakfast and a close look at the geckos. Here we are with full tummies and all smiles!

Fishing in Hawaii

Scotty and I got out for a day of fishing on this trip. We caught (Scotty caught) 2 nice size Oho and had some great eating for a couple of nights. I had a big fish on for quite some time but lost it.

Move out the way...oh no...here comes the Ono

Here I am with the Tuna on...

And now I'm posing with the second fish that Scotty caught...looks good in sequence right?

Kona Luau

We went to our first Luau on this trip and it was fun to see. A bit cheesy at times, but overall we all had fun and Oliver loved the drums and fire.

Drum time...

I can keep the beat...

Well - let's just say there was a little plaid going around

Here are a couple shots of the fire dancer doing his thing

Oliver was so excited to take a photo and give the dude a high five. He made multiple trips up to this guy to tell him thanks and give him a high five.

Hawaii May 2011

We made our annual trip to Kona last week. We had a ton of fun and it was cool to see Oliver be more independent on the trip. We spent a lot of time on the beach, in the pool, and on walks into town. We also were lucky enough to have our friends Scotty and Nancy join us for a few days of fun in the sun (or the heavy rain, thunder, and lightning that we experienced on this trip).

Here is our independent kid checking out the rocks on the beach

Oliver and dad enjoying the warm water

Do you see the moon up there?

Checking out the kids on the beach...who am I going to make friends with today?

Jacob was the winner today! They ended up playing together a couple of days at the beach. Oliver also made friends with Cameron, Fishboy, and the kid from Calgary.

Easter Weekend

Easter weekend started off with an kids service and Easter egg hunt at Bellevue Presbyterian.
Here is Oliver in full stride with a smile hunting down his alloted 9 eggs.

Running as fast as he can...

Grandma Joan and Oliver counting the eggs and showing them off!

On Easter we had a nice gathering with family and our own Easter egg hunt with Oliver and Tanner.

There is the prize...

Tan-man had a bit more difficult locations for finding eggs...but he was game once he realized that the Easter Bunny left cash in his eggs.

Here is Tanner checking out the egg hunt competition for years to come.

Baskets full - all done!
